LARS celebrating 25 years
13 August 2014
LARS Communications are this year celebrating 25 years in business. The company specialise in radio site build and antenna system installation and commissioning, providing bespoke solutions to meet customer requirements.
Owner, Glen Pearson, formed the company in 1989 initially as a rigging and electrical sub contractor to the major utility companies. Later LARS became a principal contractor performing national contracts for RAM Mobile Data, Cellnet and NTL. In the interim years LARS has undertaken contracts for all the major cellular operators, fixed radio access installation, including microwave transmission and transmission planning, and installation and commissioning work for a host of national and international organisations.
More recently, as the comprehensive service and capability of the company continued to grow, LARS has completed site and network builds for a variety of industry sectors including meteorological, maritime, defence, utility and transport. These have invariably included in-house structure fabrication and construction ranging from 10 metre monopoles to 60+ metre lattice towers.
2014 is proving to be one of LARS most challenging and rewarding years to date with work continuing on a substantial network build for a major utility company, fabricating the tallest tower to date (more to follow on this soon…..) and undertaking significant structural refurbishment on a number of Met Office radar sites.
From modest beginnings LARS now operates from modern, self contained industrial premises in Carnforth, a stones throw from Junction 35 of the M6 and an ideal location to serve all clients needs efficiently and effectively.
Managing Director, Ian Turner, says of the company’s achievements, “The quality and scope of work produced over the last 25 years has firmly established LARS as an industry leader within the telecommunications industry, with a reputation that will contribute to many more years of success.”
