Major Contract Award
10 May 2019
As an industry leader in radio site build and tower fabrication and installation, we were absolutely thrilled to have secured an exciting contract with a leading north-western utility provider, working on a number of sites across the North West of England.
The contract has meant that over the course of the last few months we have been working on the construction of thirty-two radio communication sites spread right across the region, a project which has included site design, fabrication and installation of structures and all on-site civils work. As well as the construction of these new communication sites, the work will also involve the replacement of existing infrastructure.
All work conforms to BS EN ISO 9001 quality standards and all fabrication work is certified under the CE Marking Scheme.
This project has called on all of our extensive skills and experience, as we’ve taken on excavation and duct work, earthing works, fencing, concrete bases and the placement of cabins, through to crane lifts, tower builds and electrical works. The sites are spread right across the region, and include locations in Coniston, Ambleside, Catterall, Little Salkeld, Haverthwaite and Morton Park.
The power company is responsible for almost 58,000km of cables and sixty-six grid sub-stations, operating a network which covers a diverse range of terrain and a huge customer mix, from isolated farms in the Lake District National Park to heavy industry and dense urban population in Manchester and the surrounding area. These upgrades will ensure that the high standards which were set when the network was taken over in 2007 will continue.
Obviously with 2.2 million customers relying on the network, the scale of the project is not lost on us. This has been a real opportunity to demonstrate the range of services we offer and we are thrilled to be part of such an exciting project.
