Alcumus SafeContractor

For the third successive year, LARS Communications has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.

Used by thousands of organisations across the UK, from SMEs to FTSE 100 companies, Alcumus SafeContractor is a leading third party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management. It delivers a tailored health and safety accreditation scheme which allows contractors to showcase their capabilities to potential customers, as well as demonstrating that their health and safety documentation is not only up to date, but that it also meets industry standards.

A typical day at LARS could include working at height, operating heavy machinery, abseiling and carrying out excavations, to name but a few, so it’s vital that there is a uniform health and safety standard right across the business. And of course, there are a number of benefits associated with achieving the accreditation, such as:

  • Peace of mind that the business has the relevant health and safety paperwork in place to meet industry standards

  • Ensuring the business is in the best possible position to tender for work opportunities

  • It promotes a commitment to health and safety best practice – the sign of a professional and credible company that looks after its employees

  • This commitment to safety will be viewed positively by the business’ insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal

Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a strict vetting process, examining health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Only those companies meeting the high standard are included on the database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website.

Gemma Archibald, Managing Director at Alcumus Accreditation, said; “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place. SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
