Achilles UVDB Audit 2020
24 September 2020
As a business which carries out tower installation, fabrication, inspection and maintenance, it’s vitally important that our customers can be confident that we meet their high standards. Which is why we commit to the Achilles Utilities Vendor Database (UVDB) Audit each year. What’s more, for the third year in a row, we are thrilled to have passed the audit with flying colours.
Last year, we achieved a near perfect score. This year we went one better, achieving a 100% pass rate across the board.
What is Achilles UVDB?
Achilles UVDB Verify is an independent audit of an organisation’s Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) management systems and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). By undertaking the assessment process, suppliers and contractors will gain a clear understanding of the industry’s qualification requirements.
This audit is a comprehensive, annual audit process and is considered the foremost pre-qualification scheme used by the UK utilities sector to manage risk within the supply chain and to ensure compliance with EU regulations. The audit offers practical guidance and feedback from an Achilles auditor, ensuring we can:
- Demonstrate our capabilities to our key customers within the utilities sector
- Achieve credibility and recognition within this crowded marketplace
- Continually improve thanks to the rigorous programme designed by the industry for the industry
Invaluable to LARS Communications
With over 1,500 buyers from more than eighty UK utilities companies, including the National Grid, Scottish Power and Thames Water using Achilles UVDB to find suitably qualified suppliers, this accreditation has proved invaluable to the team here at LARS Communications. Furthermore, it gives buyers confidence, knowing that we have been pre-qualified, as well as audited, by an industry leading organisation.
The audit itself is an in-depth two-day process where LARS’ Management Systems (MSE) and Site Activities (SITE) are put under the microscope. Each of these business areas are scrutinised for Corporate and Social Responsibility, Health and Safety, Environment and Quality. The office visit is usually expected to take between 6.5 and 8 hours, while the site visit can last up to 6.5 hours.
Following these visits, we are thrilled to announce that we achieved an amazing 100% across the board: the breakdown is detailed below:
Health and Safety: 100%
Health and Safety: 100%
Our Business Development Manager, Julian Cooper, was absolutely delighted with the result, saying; “The utilities industry is changing all the time so it’s essential that buyers have clarity. Whether we’re undertaking a tower installation, fabrication, inspection and maintenance project – the list goes on – our customers need to be assured that they’re choosing a supplier who can match their high standards. And our Achilles UVDB accreditation does just that.
“This has been a fantastic team effort and continues to be so. We continually assess our systems and our working so that we can continue to be in the shop front for the leading buyers at some of the UK’s leading utilities companies.”
