Alcumus SafeContractor Accreditation 2020
2 October 2020
When a typical day can include working at height, operating heavy machinery for a tower installation or upgrade, abseiling, decommissioning towers, carrying out excavations or working on railways (to name just a few), high health and safety standards need to be at the forefront of everything we do.
Which is why we use Alcumus SafeContractor, a leading third-party accreditation scheme which recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management.
What’s more, for the fourth year in a row, LARS Communications has been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
The SafeContractor scheme is run and assessed by the Alcumus Group, who provide technology-led, compliance risk management certification and accreditation helping companies in the UK, and abroad, to comply with the latest legislation, and to create the safest possible working environments.
It is used by thousands of organisations, from start-ups to established companies, working across a broad range of industry sectors. Delivering a tailored health and safety accreditation scheme, SafeContractor allows contractors to showcase their capabilities to potential customers. It also allows companies to not only demonstrate robust health and safety documentation, but also a commitment to sustainable and ethical practices.
At LARS Communications, our industry roles could include any of the following:
- Heavy Plant and Machinery
- Ladders / Step Ladders
- Tower Scaffolds (tower installation or upgrade)
- Working at Height
- Working on Roofs
- Working on Services or Systems
- Equipment Requiring Isolation
Obviously, it’s vital that there is a uniform health and safety standard in place right across the business. In turn, this health and safety standard demonstrates to customers and potential customers that LARS Communications holds the relevant health and safety paperwork required to meet stringent industry standards
The SafeContractor Scheme
Under the Safecontractor scheme, businesses undergo a strict vetting process, examining health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Only those companies meeting the high standard are included on the database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website.
Inclusion on the database allows the company in question to remain in a prime position to tender for work opportunities as and when they arise.
Gemma Archibald, Managing Director at Alcumus Accreditation, said; “Major organisations simply cannot afford to run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies in place.
“More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that LARS Communications have done. The firm’s high standard has set an example which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.
“SafeContractor plays a vital role in supporting our clients in meeting their compliance needs, whilst working with their contractors as they progress through the accreditation process.”
Julian Cooper, Business Development Manager at LARS Communications added; “We take health and safety very seriously, so we are delighted that our commitment has been recognised by Alcumus SafeContractor. It not only reflects the responsible way in which we run our business, but also reassures our customers and potential customers that the health and safety of our staff and those around us is a top priority.”
