LARS Communications completes construction of a fibre exchange compound

We have recently returned from the north-east of England where we have completed the construction of a Fibre Exchange Compound. Working as Principal Contractor, this is the latest of eleven sites we have completed over the course of the last eighteen months for a leading national client.

The LARS team faced several challenges but ultimately met the deadline, producing a high-quality product, while always maintaining a safe working environment.

SHEQ Audit

During the build, the client carried out an unscheduled SHEQ audit. SHEQ is an acronym for Safety, Health, Environment and Quality. This acronym is most commonly used when referring to workplace SHEQ management.

A SHEQ audit applies several disciplines for continuous improvement of Occupational Health and Safety (ISO 45001), Environmental (ISO 14001) and Quality (ISO 9001) factors that impact your organization.

For us, safety is an absolute priority. Our commitment to health and safety, as well as the environment is at the forefront of everything we do. Our 100% score in this audit was not only very welcome, but also confirmation that our teams are doing everything possible to maintain our high standards.

Scope of Works

The scope of works for the construction of the Fibre Exchange Compound included the following:

  • Ground works, including excavation and installation on private land
  • Installation of new chambers and below ground cable and service ducting
  • Excavate, prepare and pour new reinforced concrete cabin bases for new installations
